School trustees represent the voice of our students, parents, staff, and administrators.

In 2014, the high level of commitment necessary to succeed in this work became more important than ever, as municipal government officials were asked for the first time to serve a 4-year term. This fall, I am the only incumbent school trustee running in the District of North Vancouver. We will have a Board comprised almost entirely of brand new trustees who are seeking election for the very first time. This is a unique situation.

Over my past 7 years serving 2 terms as your trustee, I have participated in 12 school district committees with 10+ portfolio assignments in each of my terms. I liaise between my assigned committees and the Board in areas ranging from advisory management planning, hiring, and subcommittee work regarding our District’s Policy 412: Supporting Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression and the Restraint and Seclusion Sub Committee. I am also a member of the BCSTA Indigenous Education Committee, having served as Vice Chair for 2 years, and am now serving as Co-Chair.

My commitment to our District goes back even further. I have been advocating for quality public education and inclusion for all students since 2002, engaging with school PACs, parents, students, the Board of Education, and our educational partner groups to bring about positive change for our community. 

My ongoing focus for our District and our students is:

• Student & parent engagement,

• Continued Program choice for students through increased accessibility, availability, and diversity of educational programming,

• Building parent trust through open reciprocal dialogue and inclusive strategic planning,

• Safe learning and working environments,

• Continued transparency through our Land Management process, and

• Professional development for our staff.
